Prominent New Jersey Lawyer
Enters Infected Tissue Lawsuit

Chris Placitella, a prominent New Jersey lawyer, has entered into a lawsuit as co-counsel in a case that alleges that certain transplant surgeries used illegally harvested and unscreened body parts.

Placitella is a principal with the law firm Cohen, Placitella & Roth and has offices in Red Bank, New Jersey. The New Jersey lawyer is co-counsel to the D'Arcy Law Firm in New Jersey and Motley Rice LLC of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The three firms are researching more than 500 potential cases involving harvested tissue.

The lawsuit was filed in District Court of New Jersey. The client is Ned Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska, who alleges he received illegally harvested bones as part of a scheduled back surgery.

The lawyers allege the bones were part of a scheme involving illegally harvested tissue and bones in New Jersey and New York. Several men are currently under indictment in Brooklyn, New York, in that case

After Jackson's surgery he was diagnosed with Hepatitis B and C, a disease of the liver that has no known cure. Jackson's suit alleges his infection is the result of the tissue provided by the indicted schemers.

Placitella, a former president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, New Jersey, was a member of the legal teams that represented New Jersey in its $7.6 billion tobacco settlement.

Placitella is also known for his work in negotiating the largest personal injury settlement against a pharmaceutical company in US history.
